Characteristic of the way we work at Beaufort Logistics is the small organisation, the extensive network, and the direct contact. Generally Stefan takes care of the transhipment from the inland ports to the hinterland, while Tjerk organises the reversed course, from the hinterland to the inland ports.

There are no extra layers, as is the case with most larger chartering companies. Because we sit side by side in the office, we can size up the available options and the most optimal logistic route within five minutes. It also enables us to immediately create a good circulation.

Less paperwork, digital as much as possible

To expand its services, Beaufort Logistics has the ambition to make more use of automation. While ships are usually equipped with the most modern techniques, the chartering-world keeps falling behind. Beaufort Logistics wants to make a catch-up effort. At the moment they are working on the development of their own App. The idea is that eventually the skipper can scan and mail all the documentation, such as loading and unloading papers, and also invoices, with his smartphone. The second step is that the customer immediately gets a notification of recent status updates. This is convenient for both parties and it results in a lot less manual administration for the skipper, who usually already has his hands full with all the other work that needs to be done on board.
